Nerdy and Early - Candid Thoughts from Sunil Nagaraj

Nerdy and Early is where I write about software beyond the screen, entrepreneurship, and whatever science rabbit hole I fell into that week.

I’m the Founder and Managing Partner of Ubiquity Ventures, which I launched in 2017 and now run across three deep-tech funds. Before Ubiquity, I spent almost a decade at Bessemer Venture Partners leading seed investments in Auth0 (acquired by Okta for $6.5B), Twitch (acquired by Amazon), Rocket Lab (NASDAQ: RKLB), and Zapier, six unicorns and counting, adding up to over $80B in combined market cap.

Before venture, I founded Triangulate, a machine learning dating startup that taught me more about human behavior than any dating app should, and worked at Bain, Cisco, and Microsoft. I have an MBA from Harvard Business School and a BS in Computer Science from UNC Chapel Hill.

These days I sit on the boards of Halter, Esper, BusRight, Ketryx, and a few others, and I’m a Past President of the Astronomical Society of the Pacific, which tells you everything about how I spend my weekends.
